Within the framework of accelerating the implementation of the projects planned in the "Decent Life" initiative, which was launched by H.E. president Sisi to raise the standard of living in the villages most in need, as well as promoting the development of basic services provided to citizens and alleviating poverty rates , Dr. Muhammad Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, asked the electricity distribution companies to take the necessary steps towards improving the efficiency of electrical networks in the targeted villages. Dr. Shaker explained that the development plan for the electricity networks that will be implemented includes improving the service and raising the efficiency of the electrical supply. It also includes the conversion of exposed low-voltage conductors into insulated ones, changing the small conductors to convenient ones, raising the capacity of the transformers, replacing the rickety lamp posts, replacing the suspended transformers with kiosks, and creating new electric feeders to improve the performance and stability of electrical supply and develop solutions to avoid problems of long lines. Egypt’s Electricity Authority invests EGP 33bn during 2019/20

The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) and its subsidiaries have made total investments amounting to EGP 33bn during fiscal year (FY) 2019/20, according to EEHC Chairperson Gaber Desouky. Desouky’s comments came during the company’s Ordinary General Assembly and Extraordinary General Assembly meetings, headed by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker. Desouky said that, thanks to the support of Egypt’s political leadership, the EEHC has succeeded in overcoming the challenges it faced during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The company has also managed to stabilize the national grid, bridged the gap between production and demand for electricity, and completed steps to rehabilitate electricity companies. In continuation of the efforts and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy’s plan to strengthen the Egyptian transmission network, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, witnessed signing of a contract between the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company and the Hitachi ABB for Power Grids for the supply and installation of Static Synchronous condenser- STATCOM devices. Egypt, Sudan Sign Contract to Raise Electrical Link Capacity to 300 Megawatts

Within the framework of the interest of the Egyptian political leadership in the speedy implementation of the electrical interconnection project between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the brotherly Republic of Sudan and the termination of the second phase of this project, and within the framework of the interest that the electricity and renewable energy sector attaches to the electrical interconnection projects, especially the connection with the Republic of Sudan.
